Memory Drawings, Janet's Place
These works were developed as impressions of travelling and spending time at Janet's place in the Brindabella ranges. Her property sits between national park and the remnant edges of farm land. The drive there is slow along narrow bitumen roads breaking into dirt tracks. Farm lands, often over cleared and over grazed slump the sides of steep hills. Evident settlement gives way to dense stands of eucalyptus forests where wallabies replace the sheep. Although less evident the forests here have also been ravaged by humans and nature through forestry, eucalyptus oil harvesting and fires. Each work is a memory, a feeling, an impression of being in a particular place in that landscape. the landscape is gritty, hard and dry but also very beautiful.
